Codec on incoming calls

On the 3cx, under the voip provider line management menu, there is a setting for the Codec priorities.

If I set it to use g729 as a first choice (my voip provider does support g729 - Voip Unlimited) then will all incoming calls be at the lower bandwidth g729, or does it depend on where the call originated from ?

Also if the phone's preferred codec is 711, then does the 3cx do the translation from 729 to 711 or does the phone auto switch to the g729 codec ?

If both parties support the codecs, the codec will be chosen depending on the priority specified within the PBX.

If G729 is your first choice, you may still get calls using other codecs if the caller does not support this codec.
