Solved Compose SMS Missing

Hello,

We use the SMS option infrequently but our users have reported that the "Compose SMS" option from the mobile app is missing. We only see "Compose Chat" and see no way to initiate a new outgoing SMS message. Can someone advise on the current workflow for sending SMS messages?

We are using the current SMS tab configuration in our sip provider.

what is the pbx version and which mobile app are you using?

do you have the same using the web client or desktop app?

We've tried it with Twilio and Voxtelesys.

Our current PBX is 18.0 (Build 912) - 18.0.8.912 and the iPhone mobile app 18.6.3.605

The webclient only allows for internal chat.

To be able to compose an SMS from your mobile client or from your webclient you need to have an SMS enabled number pointed to your extension or a Queue or Ring Group which your extension is part of.

Also, unarchiving SMS chats that are a little over a month old doesn't allow us to reply. We can only call the number involved in the thread.

That is expected. When an SMS is archived you can only read it, not reply back to the same conversation.

Thanks! Adding the user to a ring group and using the call handling in the webclient allows for the composition of new text messages.
