Hi there,

I noticed that on a Hosted 3CX which is on the latest version I don't get the config file with the welcome email. I need that in order to provision the softphone, since the company is using the legacy V16 3CX Phone for Windows, because is combined with the Multi-line TAPI drives and used with their CRM.

Please let me know what am I missing here and how can I get the configuration file.

Thanks a lot in advance for your prompt attention to this matter.

The config file is no longer in the email, for security measures (it contains passwords).
You can provision the legacy V16 client through logging into a provisioned Desktop App/Webclient and going to Apps > Windows App.
Note that when using the latest version of the Desktop App, you can use multi-line TAPI:

Hello there,

The QR code and passwords have been removed as a security measure in Update 8. Users are now required to set their own password and access the Webclient where they can scan the QR code in their 3CX app as well as download the Desktop app or PWA on their PC. This was announced in this Blog post: https://www.3cx.com/blog/releases/v18u7a-beta-security-update/

Hey guys,

Thanks a lot for the clarifications! Didn't know that Multi-line TAPI works now with the desktop App! That is great news. This means we can finally get rid of the legacy V16 3CX windows client.

@PanagiotisL_3CX thanks a lot for the clarifications as well!

Wishing you all the best to both of you!

With kind regards,

Hello everyone,

is it still somehow possible to get to the config file? Many customers are still using the legacy V16 app.

Thanks & Greetings

You can get the file from your webclient.

I just discovered this issue today, the welcome email no longer contains the configuration file. I guess I missed that email notification from 3CX warning us of this change. Yes, I see I can log into the Webclient to grab and download the configuration file and then turn around an email it to someone but what a royal pain, and how long until the 3CX crew realizes we can do this and they decide to pull it?

We still use the Windows desktop soft-phone client at all of our warehouses. Each warehouse has multiple Security people coming and going (different shifts 24 x 7) who work the front desk and after logging onto the PC they run the softphone client to monitor the main extension / number (they are the operator). They don't use the softphone to make/take calls, they use it so they can see who's on a call, what status people are in, etc. and can then route the caller to someone else as needed, or to voicemail, from the main console desk phone. For this setup, our requirement, the Windows softphone works much better than the webclient as it takes up less real estate on the screen (can see more extensions), a quick view of everyone's status, and see all active calls.
