First of all it is shocking that BT will sell VOIP or other services without understanding our needs.

When I placed my order I explained clearly that we have a PBX and will need voip to work with it. I was told it will.

Today I have received my VOIP details yet cannot get 3CX to ring out.

I have obtained a surepticious email with a url which apparently contains all the details needed to connect but it is not working yet so I need your help urgently.

the details provided are:

http://api.home/voipsetup.api?
SIPTransportProtocol=UDP
&SIPTransportPort=5060
&SIPRegistrarAddress=bmnhb-03.bt.com
&SIPRegistrarPort=5060
&SIPOutboundProxyAddress=www.bbvservice-560***.bt.com
&SIPOutboundProxyPort=5060
&SIPProxyAddress=bmnhb-03.bt.com
&SIPProxyPort=5060
&SIPPhoneNumber1=ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ
&SIPCallerName1=
&SIPUsername1=ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ
&SIPPassword1=*****************
&SIPPhoneNumber2=
&SIPCallerName2=
&SIPUsername2=
&SIPPassword2=
&SIPHashB=f23adae0eda1d47d7b6eb449e551b8f2
&SIPHashC=92e42aa9cfc375f2182ef60a2582a002
&SIPHashD=3fd3c07763a91b2612721c25c44a64a7
&SIPHash=34dfd4a078f758d65c8ada3b82045d2c

What I have done is create a new voip provide called BT and input the following details: please see attachment.

I would be grateful for further advice. many thanks

can you do a refresh registration and then post the activity log (turn on verbose logging and restart) or run a wireshark.

We need to see the response back from BT to know what is wrong.

Thanks

This is the 3CX server log or part of it that has any activity to report:

17:44:34.468 Currently active calls [none]
17:44:08.484 [CM504007]: Next attempt to register 10002@BT is scheduled in 10 minutes
17:44:08.468 [CM504005]: Registration failed for: 10002@BT; Cause: 503 Service Unavailable; warning: ; internal
17:44:08.390 [CM504003]: Sent registration request for 10002@BT
17:44:02.468 Currently active calls [none]

I hope that helps if not what is wireshark?

You had a 503 service unavailable reply.

Your setup is wrong by the looks of it. delete the outbound proxy address (leave it blank). leave the outbound port as 5060 and try again

Thanks for th reply again

I have deleted the outbound proxy server and left it blank. Port is 5060.

Still no registration. Funny thing is that before I received the email. I had input the following details:

btsip.bt.com
5060
sp2.btsip.bt.net
5060

and with another password which was sent with the 056 number. This registered with BT's server but when I tried to make a call, the automated response reported that "you cannot make a call on this line".

I rang BT and he told me that sip details were not given however, he can send me my url and all the details needed are in that url and it should work. It is amazing a multi billion dollar company cannot provide cheap and an effective service.

Anyhow when I added the details from the URL ( as above) I cannot register. D'oh.

18:29:12.640 Currently active calls [none]
18:28:54.703 [CM504007]: Next attempt to register 10002@BT is scheduled in 10 minutes

18:28:54.468 [CM504003]: Sent registration request for 10002@BT
18:28:40.640 Currently active calls [none]

Just as an experiment I also added the sip2.btsip.bt.net into the proxy but nothing. This so frustrating.

Made a call to see what would happen. The server log reports:

Does this give any clues.

i see where you went wrong now

you put in bbvservice-560xxx.bt.com and it should be http://www.bbvservice-560xxx.bt.com

Put the www. in front and it will work. your 3cx could not find the proxy before

Hi Mark

I have added the www infront as you have suggested.

It still won't register but I get this now:

18:52:03.390 [CM504007]: Next attempt to register 10002@BT is scheduled in 5 minute
18:52:03.359 [CM504005]: Registration failed for: 10002@BT; Cause: 401 Unauthorized; from IP:62.239.15.136:5060
18:52:03.000 [CM504003]: Sent registration request for 10002@BT
18:52:00.875 Currently active calls [none]

Is this progress or is it worse? cos it says it is unauthorised?

progress

last time you didnt leave 3cx, this time you got to bt but were unauthorized.

So now we need a user name and password

double check you entered them correctly.

If you did then you have to call BT (good luck!) and see if they can tell you why you are not authorized (it could be a mistake their end)

They have given you three pieces of information here, that you need to fit into two places, the SIP Server and the Outbound proxy. I would hope that the SIPRegitrarAddress is the SIP server, that would make sense. You will have to try the other two in the SIP proxy field. Obviously the terms used by different companies/devices may vary.

Did they specify that the Authentication ID is your phone number, or do you have to make use of the user name (if it is different) somewhere?

Hi Leejor

When I replace the http://www.bbvservice-560xxx.bt.com with bmnhb-03.bt.com

I get the 503 error again.

So I assume the bbvservice proxy is the correct one because with this I get the 401 error.
