If I understand correctly, to change the default or base language of the PBX, one must:
  1. backup the system,
  2. uninstall 3CX,
  3. change the language (locale) of the system OS,
  4. reinstall 3CX, and
  5. restore from the backup.
Is that correct? In another forum, I mentioned that I had installed 3CX and Debian in English. However, I need to be sure that as many audio prompts and email messages as possible are given in German, as that is the language of the site. I have already changed the locale of the base server to German:
Code:
root@pbx:~# env | grep LANG
LANG=de_DE.UTF-8
LANGUAGE=de:en_GB:en_US
so I'm hoping that it's a relatively small matter to reinstall 3CX and restore from the backup. Another question is: must one fully uninstall 3CX, or is it enough to clear the installation with the 3CXCleanup command and run the setup process again?

Thank you for reading, and many thanks if you give help and/or correction!

Hello @David Liddle

Since you already changed the locale i would recommend restarting the PBX services to see if that works without needing to re-install the PBX. Please create a full backup however before performing any changes as when it comes to locales or other OS related settings it is always best to have a full backup saved.
If the restart does not work i would recommend re-installing the system with the procedure you mentioned. I would not recommend using the 3CXCleanup command in this scenario.

Thanks for the response, @YiannisH_3CX! I'm glad that you made your first suggestion, because I think that it did work. The welcome messages are going out now in German. To the best of your knowledge, are there any prompts or announcements that might be firmly fixed to the language of installation, that is, English?

As far as i am aware everything tied to the system locale will switch to your preferred language. Glad the first method worked.

Great! Consider this question settled and solved.

Glad to see the issue has been resolved
