Sorry for the question, but, what does the Team Integration really gives to the user?
Im asking because most of my customers are on least expensive MS365 licenses, and the Teams Integration requires more money on the 3CX license as well as a higher tier of MS 365 licenses or some Voice Add-Ons

I read the Team Integration on 3CX.com, but in summary it says:
Dial externally via 3CX SIP trunks.
Eliminate costly MS domestic / international calling plans.
Choose your own cost-effective SIP provider in your region.
Make do with less staff on expensive MS365 E5 license plans.

It looks to me that it says "you can now dial out directly from the Team interface using your 3CX trunk"
I mean, is that all? because users can just pick their phone to dial out, or not? instead of the company expending $$$ so they can click inside their PC and use a headset.

Sorry if I sound mean, most likely I dont get all the benefits, thats what Im asking.

Hi Dotty,

You summarized it pretty well. Teams integration allows a user using the Teams client to make calls via SIP Trunks on 3CX as well as call other 3CX Users that may be using the 3CX Apps.
This also of course works in reverse, Incoming calls through SIP Trunks on 3CX and calls from 3CX users using the 3CX Apps can reach users integrated with Teams and answer calls on their Teams app.

If though you have no need for it, indeed it is just extra $$$ that you don't need to give.

The functionality is good, even if it is just that users can dial out from within Team and get a call directly inside Teams.
But, 3CX requires that users has some sort of Voice Plan from SM365 (those voice plans seem to provide exactly the same, directly inside Teams, meaning, users can dial out and get calls in Teams, plus conferencing options, which I dont know if the 3CX Team integration also gives because I havent found info on that), what would be the value of integrating 3CX?. If the value is the "reduced cost per min by using 3CX" then it will have to be a large volume of calls to justify the 3CX license plus the MS365 voice license.

Of course, if the integration would give us the functionality without paying MS extra $$, then the client will see the value right there,, but that doesnt seem to be the case.

Maybe im not looking at this from the right angle.

There are quite a few things you are overlooking here and I might not be able to cover them all, but I'll try and give you a general idea with a few bullet points with examples why someone might want this:
  • Your organization might have some users with MS licenses that support Teams Integration but the majority of the other users use the 3CX Clients.
  • You have a free choice of SIP Trunk providers that are supported by 3CX.
  • You can take advantage of other 3CX features instead of using the Teams features, like Queues, Digital Receptionists, VMail/Recording transcription, and much more

Basically it allows you to have a "mix" of users that have the Teams client and the 3CX Apps, but at the same time get the best out of the 3CX Features we have to offer.
