Hello community,

I have a problem to connect an old Siemens HiPath PBX via Patton SmartNode 4638 to 3CX. I think my problem is more related to the SmartNode than 3cx. I'm new here, so if this is the wrong forum or channel, feel free to move or delete it. I'm sorry.

my Setup
- the 3cx (v16.0.8.9) is connected via SIP trunk to german Telekom (point to point)
- the SmartNode is connected via SIP trunk to 3CX (registration works)
- the old HiPath is connected via multiple ISDN lines (germany) to the SmartNode (ISDN Link LEDs green)

The goal is to connect the old HiPath pbx system to the VoIP world via 3cx. Successively (over the next months or years) I wan't to exchange old (isdn) phones to new (voip) phones.

Problem description
The connection between HiPath an SmartNode is not working correctly.

SIP to ISDN: SmartNode activity LED is blinking, no phone on the HiPath is ringing
ISDN to SIP: I hear a voice message (from 3cx) saying that the destination is not available and that I should contact the administrator

Perhaps it has to do with the number format on the isdn line?

I'm not shure how to debug this problem. I got some less helpful logs from the SmartNode cli and nearly nothing (just call log, is there anything else?) from 3cx.

Is there any possibility to get more debug logs from either? Are there known problems with HiPath or german ISDN lines an SmartNode 4638?

I'm happy for every help and hint. Thank you a lot!
Dominik

What type of trunk is this set to use? If 3CX is expecting "normal" incoming calls (as from an outside provider), then what you are trying to do is probably not going to work. To be able to dial though 3CX and reach either an extension, by dialling the number (not as a DID route), or place an outside call, using the 3CX outbound rules, then you will most likely have to use a Bridge trunk. That is the sort of thing they designed for.

Now, the "trick", is going to be getting the Bridge trunk to work with the Patton.

At the moment, you will have to look at the 3CX Activity Log, to see what 3CX is getting, and how it is "dealling" with that.

If the old PBX has SIP available (I suspect not), then that could be used to connect direct to a 3CX Bridge trunk.

Thank you, leejor.

Type is just "BRI". I created it with "add gateway".

Ahh, I thought those "bridge" trunks are just for connections between multiple 3cx instances. I will try to connect the SmartNode directly to a "master bridge trunk".

Thank you, I didn't know that my setup is that uncommon. So, whats the 3cx way to connect (internal) ISDN or analog phones?

You need an FXS gateway.
