We are using 3CX Pro 4SC Version 20.0 Update 4 (Build 487 Release) for our company cloudPBX

We created a AI assistant using vapi.ai > this works well

We used this guide to create a sip URL for that AI assistant: sip:[email protected]

Now, how to connect it to 3CX? Should I create a dedicated user? a trunk which does not register?

I do have the same question. Please do let me know once you get a solution.

We recently sponsored a video from Network Chuck where he connects to his AI assistant. You just need to create a SIP Trunk connection to your AI assistant. We will just see it as a SIP connection.

Thanks.

The video describes how you can (auto)dial to your home assistant AI and access to your home assistant features.
This is cool indeed ✌️

But that doesn't answer the key topic here: connecting VAPI to answer inbound calls.

What we did:
Here is VAPI.AI answer:
Hey, I think it is possible, but I am not entirely sure about it. It would be best if you could join the Slack server https://joinslack.jambonz.org/. Once you’re in, you can ask this question in #vapi-customer-interop. They will be able to direct you properly on how you can achieve it.

Great! I have no time at the moment to implement this. If this can help somebody to reach and document the next step here, I'd be glad to give it a try.

Thanks for reading. Have a nice day ☀️

Hey,

did you got any news? Did you got it run?

Actually I'm thinking about a Asterisk Bridge (3cx > asterisk > Vaip) but this can't be the way.

@3CExperience

Has anyone got any ideas on how to do this? We are currently facing multiple requests & inquiries about this as well...

Out of curiousity, today I got a VAPI account and i've gotten as far as registering a "SIP Trunk" via VAPI to a 3CX extension.

Now I dont know what to do :D

I made a trunk registration to the vapi sip servers and added the numbers i added in the vapi portal.

Then i made an outgoing rule with a prefix

at the end i entered the mobilenumber like the number i added in vapi but with the prefix i set on the outband rule.

now i can call internal number 104 an my vapi agent takes the call.

I'm struggling with the redirection feature from vapi, it alway makes a direct transfere and not an attendant one.
So if anybody got further than me, please share.

This sounds and looks good so far!

We did something similar like this previously with Aaron AI for health centers and doctor practices, where the main trunk and central number can be dialed but the call gets redirected to the Aaron trunk.

I'm going to look into this today in the afternoon as well but if you don't mind me asking, what do you mean by redirection feature from VAPI? How is it supposed to work according to them? Did you also have to book your own trunk and numbers on VAPI?

You can utilise a SIP trunk from VAPI or register your own to it. I assume they've taken VAPI's trunk offering.

Yes, You can connectz Vapi to (BYOT) Bring Your Own Trunk an then connect it to 3cx. The redirect feature shoud be:
Voice agent takes the call, makes a summery of the call, then redirects the caller to an intern 3cx user with attendant call an tells the agent the summer before redirecting.

This is where I am stuck as well. I have V20, Made a Generic Based IP trunk in 3CX, Used a legit DID I have with Bandwidth but put it in the Vapi trunk so Vapi has a correct E164 format. Added a Vapi extension and placed the DID in the mobile filed call mobile after 1 second selected in my Available status's. 3CX calls my Vapi Agent everytime perfectly. I tried making a 2nd trunk with another DID. Vapi attempts the call but 3CX is blocking it as unidentified - adjust source code.

I need to get the caller back to the 3CX for my clients that want to speak to a Live person, manager, etc.

Any others have an update on Vapi????

Have you checked Wireshark/Debug Logs to see how the number is coming in and why it might not be getting matched?

I managed to make a calltransfere but only blind, not attendet.

@KyriacosS_3CX No I havent had the chance to dig in with tracing yet. I used the free Vapi DIDs to connect 4 call paths I needed for now. Not the best using all the call paths but works for now until I can figure this out.

Hi Gents,

Has anyone gotten any further with 3cx/Vapi?

Not tried any further, 3CX has its own agent now.
what are you trying to acomplish?
