Hey,

What is the simplest way to export the configuration (SIP Trunk, Extentions, voice messages, call logs,......) from an existing installation on v11 to a new one running v15.

Thank you for your ideas and comments,

Cheers!

Hi flynorc,

No simplest way to upgrade from previous version to latest if you want to avoid any miss-configuration.
Please find on this link what is our recommendation https://www.3cx.com/docs/manual/configuration-tool/

At the bottom of this link you will see the following:
  • From v9 and v10 you must upgrade to v11 SP 4a first, then to v12 SP 6.1
  • From v12 SP 6.1 you must go to v12.5 first.
  • From v12.5, to retain call logs, you must go to v14 first, or without call logs directly to v15.
  • From v14 you can go to v15 directly.
  • Backups from previous versions can only be restored during the installation of the pbx.

thank you for your quick answer. I saw that before as well and i thought i might ask if there is a better way.
Is there a list of all the releases somewhere with just the server software or should i scroll in this list to find the release i need:

also which version should i go to first if i have this now: 11.0.28976.849
should the next step be v11 or can i go to v12.5?

EDIT:
I took the installer for v12. Installed it and after import it seems to be working still :D
Tomorrow will try the upgrade to 14 or 15. Should i uninstall the v12 first (after making the backup of the data of course) or should I just install the new version while the 12 is still there (like an upgrade with some software)?

Thank you again for your help.

Hi flynorc,

This link is the list of all the releases https://www.3cx.com/blog/change-log/phone-system-change-log/

You cannot install two Phone Systems on the same machine. You need to install the version then take a backup and then un-install it and so on. If you need to retain your call logs you need to stay on above way, V12 latest service pack to V12.5 latest service pack to V14 latest service pack and then V15 latest service pack.

You can find the exe file links below:
V15 : http://downloads.3cx.com/downloads/3CXPhoneSystem15.exe
V14 :http://downloads.3cx.com/downloads/3CXPhoneSystem14.exe
V12.5 :http://downloads.3cx.com/downloads/3CXPhoneSystem125.exe
V12 :http://downloads.3cx.com/downloads/3CXPhoneSystem12.exe
V11 :http://downloads.3cx.com/downloads/3CXPhoneSystem11.exe

Roger that. Thank you for your answers and help. Much appreciated. Will do the step by step upgrade.
Another question that arises is: in the old version (v11) I was able tot see the reports -> call logs and statistics and in the new one the menu entry is not there (as it should not be since it is a Free edition). My question is, after the upgrade process to v15 and buying the licence that includes the call logs, will the old data still be there, or will it be lost in the process?

My question is, can the upgrade be done on free licences or must a licence first be bought and is the licence independent from the version of the software installed?

Hi flynorc,

If you proceed with the recommended way then the system will retain your call logs on upgrade. Please note to retain the call history to a newer version is depended by your call history file size. Please take a backup and check the size of your call history file and let us know.
