Hi everyone.

I read a lot of posts about Cosmote which is not pre-configured on 3cx. Some problems are indicated as solved but there is no mention in all the settings used.
Can anybody post the full SIP trunk configuration for me and for future reference.
So far I know these:

Country: Generic
Provider: Generic SIP trunk
Main Trunk No: +30XXXXXXXXXX
Registrar/Server/Gateway Hostname or IP: ims.otenet.gr
Auto Discovery: Checked
Outbound Proxy: ims.otenet.gr
Port: 5060
Number of SIM Calls: 2 (for example).
Type of Authentication: Register/Account based
Authentication ID (aka SIP User ID): [email protected]
Authentication Password: Your Password given by Cosmote
3 Way Authentication Password Check: Checked
3 Way Authentication Password: +30XXXXXXXXXX

"Options" -> "Advanced" tab:

Select which IP to use in 'Contact' (SIP) and 'Connection'(SDP) fields: Use default settings
Transport Protocol: Any
IP Mode: Any
Codec Priority: Leave the Suggested values

I also found in this forum that I have to change local DNS settings on the PBX machine to 212.205.212.205 or 195.170.0.1 or 195.170.2.2 (not tried this by now).

Can anybody with working 3cx confirm these?

Thanks in advance.

Konstantinos.

Hi Konstantine,

I haven't set a Cosmote SIP Trunk up myself, but I have a feeling that you need to make a small alteration to your settings:

Country: Generic
Provider: Generic SIP trunk
Main Trunk No: +30XXXXXXXXXX
Registrar/Server/Gateway Hostname or IP: ims.otenet.gr
Auto Discovery: Checked
Outbound Proxy: <empty>
Port: 5060
Number of SIM Calls: 2 (for example).
Type of Authentication: Register/Account based
Authentication ID (aka SIP User ID): +30XXXXXXXXXX
Authentication Password: Your Password given by Cosmote
3 Way Authentication Password Check: Checked
3 Way Authentication Password: [email protected]

Additionally, I think they need to whitelist the Public IP of your 3CX System, so maybe give them a call.

After this, make a packet capture:
  1. Open the 3CX Management Console 2 times in 2 different tabs.
  2. In the first tab, go to Dashboard --> Services and stop the SIP Server
  3. in the Second tab go to Dashboard --> Activity log and start capturing.
  4. In the first tab, restart all services and wait 1 minute
  5. In the second tab, stop the capture and open in wireshark
  6. Use filter sip.CSeq.method==REGISTER and find the specific packets sent by 3CX to Cosmote. check if they are replying, and if they are, what is their response. If their server is not replying at all, you need to call them to ask why they are not replying.
I have never done this myself, but this would be my general advice.

Hi Nick.

I already tried your settings suggestion several times and in any possible way but never manage to register.
I realize that ims.otenet.gr domain changed IP three times in an hour, while Cosmote representative was certain that 195.167.16.1 is the correct one.
195.167.16.30
195.167.16.28
195.167.16.1

Maybe it's DNS problem after all, which is the only solution I didn't try yet.

I used to have a Yeastar TB200 BRI VoIP Gateway (since my ISDN Lines were not VoIP) connected to the digital output of the Oxygen router doing the job for me.
Now that my lines changed to VoIP I want to get rid of it and transfer my PBX to Azure. Setup is already done but I have to find correct settings to make it work locally first and then move to Azure.
Plus, I cannot easily interrupt the daily use of the PBX and I'm not familiar with wireshark. I'm an accountant after all :cool:

Cosmote sent me these settings but it's for Asterisk based PBX. That's all they have, they told me.

PEER DETAILS:
username=+301234567890
type=peer
secret=XXXXXXXX
host=ims.otenet.gr
fromuser=+301234567890
qualify=yes
fromdomain=ims.otenet.gr
insecure=invite

USER DETAILS:
type=user
secret=XXXXXXXXX
context=from-trunk
host=ims.otenet.gr

Registration string:
+301234567890:XXXXXXXXXX:[email protected]@ims.otenet.gr:5060/+301234567890

Maybe someone can "decode" them.
Local 3CX reseller never managed to make it work with Cosmote. :-(
I hope I'll find it at the end and help others too.

Thanks for your answer Nick.

Based on the settings they gave you, I would say what I suggested is correct.

From these steps, just do 1-5 and just save the file to your disk. then just upload it to a file sharing service of your choice (GDrive, Dropbox, WeTransfer, etc) and send me the download link in a PM. I shall just have a quick look just to see if the PBX is getting any response.

On your end, just make sure you have ran the Firewall Checker and that everything passes. This you do from the Dashboard --> Firewall.

Firewall test return:

testing port 5060... full cone test failed
testing 3CX Media Server port 10600... full cone test failed
testing 3CX Media Server port 10601... full cone test failed
...

but 3cx works fine.

Ports 5060 and 10600-10998 are properly forwarded on the router. I even disabled PBX PC firewall but no luck.
Maybe it's Yeastar TB200 which is in the middle right now.
I have to check it further and come back.

If you Firewall Checker is not passing, then this could very well be the problem.

Yes, please check it and keep running the Firewall Checker to check the settings you change.
Once you get it to pass, then try your SIP Trunk again.
