Apologies if this is listed elsewhere but struggling to find any information to clarify this. Just trying to understand the functions of the different points where DDIs are configured/linked

From what I can tell they are multiple points :-
- Trunk screen - DDIs entered for incoming numbers (no import option)
- Inbound rules - to link the DDIs to extensions
- extensions or queues - entry to link DDI to extension/queue

From testing it would appear as though all three need to be in place to make it all operational. Just a little confused why extensions need to be linked twice, is the DDI recorded in the extension/queue section just for outgoing Caller ID purposes given the inbound rule should cover inbound calls? If you have 100s of DDIs can these be done in bulk in all locations somehow ?

Thanks

Jon

Hello @Jon Gair

DIDs can be added under each trunk. Once added you can assign them to different destinations via inbound rules or directly from the destination like a queue or extension settings.

You only need to add an inbound rule or assign it directly under the destination not both.
Adding a inbound rule that points number to an extension will also add the number under the extensions settings automatically. And if you add it under the extension directly an inbound rule will be created under Inbound rules.

You can import inbound rules which will result in the DIDs being added under the trunk and the numbers assigned to their destinations.

I would recommend manually adding a DID and Inbound rule, exporting that so you get the correct format and use that to add your DIDs and inbound rules.
