Desk Phone Mode / SPA962 dialing

Forgive my ignorance in advance - still a newbie!!

I am under the impression that under Desk Phone Mode if I dial out a contact from Outlook that it will dial out from my IP Phone (Linksys SPA962). When I switch to headset mode the 3CX VoIP Client dials out correctly. If under Desk Phone Mode the IP Phone should do this can someone tell me how to set this up?
