"Desk phone" that uses app

Hello all!

Our company acquired a small business just down the street, only 7 employees. We would like to tie them into our phone system. They have their own internet connection. Most of the individuals can just use the app on their cell phone, however there is a retail front that we would prefer to have a desk phone. Is there any kind of phone or device that could use the app, but be more of a traditional phone? Or, is there a way to tie a device like that into the browser softphone?

Also, any other suggestions for how to tie them in without additional systems and equipment would be appreciated!

What do you mean by this exactly?

You can use what's called CTI mode which allows you to control the IP Phone via the 3CX Webclient and utilize basic functionality such as placing/answering calls, etc.

Well, yeah I guess it is! I haven't looked at the webclient close enough to know it worked like that. I knew you could do a headset, but didn't know if that translated to a phone.

If you already have a 3CX Supported IP Phone somewhere that supports CTI, I strongly recommend you give it a try first just to make sure it does what you want!

So unless I'm missing something, this would only work for phones already on the same network. This is a separate location, with it's own internet and network. So I assume I have to do something like Saqqara is suggesting?

Yes, you could provision a 3CX Supported IP Phone via STUN and control it via the 3CX Webclient.

What do you mean exactly by this? If you're talking about the PC running the 3CX Webclient and the IP Phone, then they do not need to be on the same network for this to work. This provided that you are using the 3CX Webclient and not the 3CX Windows Client. The 3CX Windows client will behave differently depending on how and where the IP Phone is provisioned.

Note: The new 3CX Desktop client coming with 3CX V18 will work fine also.
