Hi, I have done some reading and I cannot seem to find an answer to this. The question has been asked by some of our reception staff if it is possible to use a dial code to dial the mobile number of an extension rather than the extension itself. It seems the system we are in the process of replacing it was possible to put a 1 in front of an extension and then dial that extension and rather than connecting to the desk phone it would connect to that users mobile phone instead. Is something similar possible? I know I can just make a speed dial to the mobile number but users are users and they want what they had before.

I do not believe you can not add a prefix to dial the extension mobile number.,

Never heard at all this can be done with 3CX, as you said option is to set buttons on phone

Hi,

Go to outbound rule and do something like:

Prefix 1<EXT>

Length of 1<EXT>

Remove x digits and prepend MOBILE NUMBER.

Move rule to the top of the list.

And theres your quick dial.

What a pain doing this for each number , this is like lines at school :p

Could always configure custom speed dial BLFs and have them use BLFs in desktop client.

Maybe look at the webclient to be used along with the physical phone - you dial the mobile phone

Same thing achieved from desktop version.

So finally what is needed is to reset brain operator, and set new process in his / her mind, this is not a technical problem just to change some customs

The mobile number, you put in against an extension, is not there to be used in call routing, other than things like the ring my mobile function. It could be suggested as a feature request in the Ideas form, if you have access. For the time being, using the outbound rules suggestion, is about the only way or re-creating that feature.

If you normally have 3 digit extensions, then adding the 4th digit won't work as a local number. It now searches for either a SIP ID, or goes to the outbound rules to attempt a match. It might be possible as a star code, but 3Cx would have to create the feature allowing use of the mobile number set against the extension. There would have to be a provision to allow, or dis-allow, per extension, as everyone may not want to be reached on their mobile..
