Dial codes to close and open a dry relay

Good day All

Thankyou for taking an interest in my post, hoping you can help me.

A customer of mine wants to dial a code to on the phone/ press BLF key to initiate an emergency alarm and then dial another code to end alarm.
The alarm tech wants me to achieve this by using a dry contact relay closing, for alarm activated and relay open, when alarm deactivated.
I set this up using a Fanvil PA2 with an ext. on 3CX.
When i dial the ext. the relay on the Fanvil PA2 closes and when i release the call the relay opens again, which works.
The problem is, while the alarm is activated, the phone which activated the alarm is in a call to the Fanvil PA2, therefore it cannot be used again to make another call, unless you put that call in park.
The customer wants to rather dial a code to close relay and then dial another code to close relay again, instead of making a call into PA2.

Is this possible, your help will be appreciated.

The problem will be that dialling a "code" on 3CX, will work for functions on 3CX. You want to activate/de-activate an external device....so it is going to have to be something assigned to an extension number, as a SIP device.

As you've found, to be able to communicate with that device, the line is going to going to be have to be connected. You may be able to find something that uses two numbers, one you dial to activate, one to release.

One issue, is going to be restricting operation to authorized persons.

You could create a Call Flow Designer application that sends the necessary commands to the device. The CFD could write a flag somewhere (perhaps a simple global variable or a setting in a text file) that records the current state of the alarm. Then calling the same CFD extension could toggle the alarm on/off.

We do something very similar in our 3CX Emergency Notifier where we can toggle alarms off / on. Our tools would work with the PA1.
