Dial Plan - Good templates

Anyone have a good template for dial plans?

I have one from old Elastix setup that worked well.. however I don't understand the NXX format... grrr... on me I know..

I have read through and have it working for the most part but have a few issues..

US - Dial Plan is what I'm after.

currently not many issues just a few minor things..

user dials 9 then 7-12 digits from there wont work - so that one is easy..
really old prior system was dial 9 for external line - Elastix/Freepbx just adapted but no longer required.


one that has me stumped..

outlook contacts -
some contacts for users are setup -
(###) Area Code (###-####) Number (x123 / x1234) extension
so phone system for local strips (###) but then dials #######123
just rings but never connects - with numbers

Example:
5558675309x123
or
5558675309x1234

rule
local call
starting with 555
# of digits 10-15
Route 1 - Trunk1 - Strip first 3
Route 2 - Trunk1 - No strip just send

5558675309 / 8675309 both send fine no issue.

other rules for 18XX also work fine
guess i should/could block 1900 # that would be good as well

which is why i was wondering if there was a good template that some have created.

The problem with placing calls using a number that is stored in that manner (extension digits after the "main" number), is that 3CX takes the whole number at once, not just the first few digits, and is unable to ignore the rest. It is able to strip and prepend leading digits, but not trailing ones. Some sets with an internal dialplan may be able to do that, if setup correctly, before sending the number to 3CX.

what is odd is that is just worked in in past freepbx / elastix with standard dial plan

logic is same - if number is read left to right anyway - trailing numbers no matter..
however I just don't know exactly how it is processed..

missing some of the logic somewhere - in my dialplan I'm sure!
