Hi,

Hosted 18.0 Update 2 (Build 314)Version

I am trying to use a specific DID in my trunk and assign it to a specific extension. Everything works fine for inbound calls that gets directed to the extension I want without passsing thru the Receptionnist. The problem is for outbound calls that do not show the ID I configure in the users extension under 'general'-'Outbound caller ID'
I tried changing the SIP field 'From: Display name' to be 'OutBoundCallerID OutBound caller id taken from Extension settings in management console'

Any help would be appreciated

Thanks,

Yves

What sip provider ?

Being a supported sip provider, you should not may any changes to the sip settings after adding the correct sip template

Did you configure the outbound number in the correct format ?

Info on setting up sip trunk https://www.3cx.com/docs/canadian-sip-trunk-ixica/

In addition to what @Saqqara said, what happens instead when you try this? Does it show the main trunk number perhaps?

If yes, how are you forwarding the call outward, under what conditions? Is the call routed to the extension and then routed outward due to forwarding rules on the extension? If yes, what profile status are you using, if not, what's the exact scenario?

I checked the outbound number and it is in the correct format.
I checked the link you sent me and everything is ok on my side

Yes it show the main trunk number
I am making a call directly on the phone linked with the extension that I am trying to change the DID

So if I understand correctly, Making an external call from a 3CX Extension to an external number, the recipient of the call does not see the Caller ID you have set in the extension settings, correct?

If this is the case:
  1. Revert ALL changes you have made in the SIP Trunk that you mentioned in your first post (double-check with another 3CX by creating a new 'fake' IXICA trunk)
  2. Enable Verbose logging from Dashboard --> Activity Log --> Settings
  3. Make another call
  4. Then check Activity Log, find the INVITE message that is sent from 3CX to the provider and post if here (hide the last digits of the numbers and the IP Addresses...)

Thanks for the reply

Yes you understand correctly what is happenning.

I made the steps requested and tried another call, still see the main trunk number and here is the log requested:

The problem is this line:

From: "Chalet"<sip:consultech@sbc1.ixica.com:5060>;tag=0173013e

and specifically the highlighted part. This is not a valid number, so probably the provider is ignoring it.
Are you sure you have reverted all the changes you've made?
The from needs to be a number...

I re-checked the settings and the only place I have consultech is in the Authentication ID (aka SIP User ID) that was provided to me by IXICA

Well, 3CX is finding it from somewhere. Screenshot of your Outbound Parameters?

See file attached

The attachment didn't contain a screenshot of the Outbound Parameters. This is where you find those:

This is the mistake you have made:

You must have changed this and forgotten to put it back as it was. The default for IXICA looks like this:

I presume you did set up the SIP Trunk according to our guide right?
https://www.3cx.com/docs/canadian-sip-trunk-ixica/
and not used a generic template for example.

This SIP trunk account was created back in 2016 before IXICA was supported by 3CX. To be sure to clear everything I made a backup of my instance and recreated my SIP Trunk with IXICA and made sure to follow the instructions from your site. My registration to IXICA is ok and I can receive calls but cannot make calls from any extension now.

This is successful outbound call I made from our testing IXICA SIP trunk in our lab:

It looks very much similar to yours as far as I can tell, so at this point I would suggest you talk with IXICA as to way your calls are getting rejected with 403.
I also tried purposely 'spoofing' the Caller ID to check if the altered CID is presented, and the call was both established and the altered CID visible.

I contacted IXICA and they sent me a form to enable caller ID passthrough.
Once they enabled this everything was working.
Thanks for your help!
