I got a customer who just get an hosted by 3cx platform.

They have two locations, one sip provider.

They would like to display 3 different CallerID names when 3 different groups of users calls out.

I just can't figure out how.

I am able to display the user name, but its not what we are looking for.

If they had an on premise 3cx, I'd probably go with adding a third party sbc to do so.

Do someone see what I can do with that?

Maybe can I suggest to add a Caller ID Name field to go along with the caller id number of the user pane?

Hi @MBergeron,

The scenario that you describe can be implemented by setting up Outbound Caller ID in the outbound rule
  1. Create 3 extension groups and add the desired users in each group.
  2. Set up 3 outbound rules, each one with different Caller ID and specify in the "Calls from extension group(s)" from which extension group the outbound rule can be used.

I would also suggest contacting the provider as well and clarify if they support this functionality(custom Caller ID) and in which SIP field are expecting the information to. Then you can go to SIP Trunks >> Outbound parameters >> find the SIP field and change the value to "OutboundCallerId".

You can also find the document explaining the outbound parameters in detail here: https://www.3cx.com/docs/sip-trunk-outbound-calls/

Easy as that, it just didn't woked the first time I tried.

Thanks!

It has worked in my lab cause I have only one did.

On the customer's setting, it is not working, cause if I try to take the name and number from the user's configuration, the 3cx sends the name as the number, the provider revome it, and replace it by anonymous

As I recall, the name can be put again the 3CX trunk, or an extension. (sometimes the extension name will override the trunk name if you have both). It doesn't work putting a name in the outbound rule settings, only a number will work in there. If a name sent by you is honoured by your provider, the field may also have to be specified correctly in the trunk outbound parameters.

Otherwise, your provider may be able to add a name, based on the originating caller ID, or, a name can be added at the far end, using a database lookup, it the receiving provider offers that service, and the recipient is paying for it.

You would have to have three trunks, each using a different name, and either no name against the user (extension), or the outbound parameters set to send the trunk name. Some providers do allow you to setup sub-accounts.
