Is it possible to disable microphone auto gain by default for all participants who join the web meeting from the admin console/system level? I believed that the auto gain will always set the microphone level back up to 100% whenever one stops speaking, this leads to echo generated at the beginning when one attendees started to speak.

FYI: V18.0.1608

Hi @melvinchng,

The microphone is controlled on the client side, the mic volume setting is directly linked to Windows's mic volume slider in your sound settings. Have you tested on other headsets?

We don't use headphones for web meeting. We use the built in microphone of our laptops (different make and model). In a web meeting of 5-8 people, whenever someone speaks, we realize that the first 1-2 seconds will have really bad echo and blue framed shown for almost everyone (people usually do not mute themselves). After the first few seconds, things seems to be fine.

We tried the same setup on different platforms, the echo wasn't as bad compared to 3cx, and more importantly not disturbing the meeting experience. So we are checking if we can disable auto gain by default for all participants who joined. That might help us to deal with the situation.

Hi @melvinchng,

Are all of the people in the web meeting using the same connection? Are the laptops running anti-virus software, if so does disabling it temporarily make it any better?

Can you send a screenshot through of the blue border you mentioned?

Nope, different connection at different location. Not too sure about anti-virus for everyone; As for myself, I do not have any (not even windows defender on). When I speak, the participants' machine microphone will pick up the speaker output for the first few seconds - this leads to blue frame (indicating that you are speaking); That blue frame also let us know what which device are causing echo.

That echo is due to noise reduction (which is not as good in WebRTC as it is in Zoom/Teams, but even their implementation is flacky at best.)

Whenever someone talks, the system reduces gain of everyone to prevent echo coming back.

I strongly recommend you sell them a few USB headsets and they'll be just fine.

Anyway to disable noise reduction by default from the admin config? Just want to get the best out of it without getting additional hardware.

Hi @melvinchng,

There is no config file to edit which changes the default values of the WebMeeting / Webinars. They'd have to be edited manually in the meeting settings themselves. Remember that some settings are global to the meeting such as the Meeting Quality.
