I'm new to the PBX and VoIP world and need some help with configuration. I have searched and read various documents without success. I'm eager to learn, but I'm having trouble finding the information to complete my setup. I'm not using this for business and would like to only use this for personal use.

I'm using 3cx on Google Cloud and using Twilio as my SIP Trunk provider.
  1. I was able to successfully provision my Grandstream GXP1760w IP phone.
  2. I was able to receive inbound test calls from my mobile to my IP phone.
    • After 5 days, I'm no longer able to receive calls. I'm 2nd guessing my configuration.
  3. I was unable to make outbound calls.
When I try to follow the Configuring a SIP Trunk/VoIP Provider document, I'm struggling with step 5. Do I enter an IP address or FQDN? Then, what Authentication Type do I use?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

Twilio uses IP Based, so No Authentication. However, you will need a static IP on that machine.

Also, have you configured your outbound rules correctly?

Fredrick,

Thanks for your quick reply. Sorry it has taken me long to reply, this COVID-19 has me super busy at work.

I received a call from a local shop in my area to see how things were going with my 3CX download and setup. I explained my issue and he advised me to add/update the National 10 and 11 rules below. When we did a test dial, my phone gave a No Response error. He then mentioned he didn't know how else to help and referred me to submit a support ticket.

I think that's where my issue lays too, these are my settings for the outbound rules. If you could review them and let me know where I went wrong would be greatly appreciated.

rules are in order:
e.164 - Calls to number starting with prefix = +
Calls from extension = blank
Call to numbers with a length of = blank
Calls from extension groups = default
Route #1 = twilio
Strip digits = 0
Prepend = blank
Route #2 = block calls
Route #3 = block calls
Route #4 = block calls
Route #5 = block calls
International - Calls to number starting with prefix = 011
Calls from extension = blank
Call to numbers with a length of = blank
Calls from extension groups = default
Route #1 = twilio
Strip digits = 3
Prepend = +
Route #2 = block calls
Route #3 = block calls
Route #4 = block calls
Route #5 = block calls
National 10 - Calls to number starting with prefix = 1-9
Calls from extension = blank
Call to numbers with a length of = 10
Calls from extension groups = default
Route #1 = twilio
Strip digits = 0
Prepend = +
Route #2 = twilio
Strip digits = 0
prepend = blank
Route #3 = twilio
Strip digits = 0
Prepend = blank
Route #4 = block calls
Route #5 = block calls
Twilio National 11 - Calls to number starting with prefix = 1-9
Calls from extension = blank
Call to numbers with a length of = 11
Calls from extension groups = default
Route #1 = twilio
Strip digits = 1
Prepend = +1
Route #2 = twilio
Strip digits = 0
Prepend = blank
Route #3 = twilio
Strip digits = 0
Prepend = blank
Route #4 = block calls
Route #5 = block calls

Fredrick,

What should my rule look like if I don't want to dial 9 and dial a straight 10 digit phone number?

Depends on what your provider expect.

My provider is Twilio. I have read the documentation a few times, but still can't get it right. Can you help me configure?

Twilio expects +1

So, 10 digit
Strip 0, Prepend +1
perhaps starts with 2-9 (not 1-9)

11 digit
Strip 0, prepend +
starts with 1

I have a 7 digit for local area code calls
Prepend +1480

I do not use twilio for International.
I also do not have a + E164 rule setup.

I think you have +1 on 11 and + on 10. This may be a typo.

Also - for twilio - you connect using a FQDN similar to this:
?????.pstn.us2.twilio.com where the ???? is custom to you.
This is found in Twilio dashboard under Elastic SIP Trunking

In 3cx Trunk Setup:
No Proxy
IP Based Authentication

And - do you have a Static IP Address?

Thanks Craig!!

I have updated the rules and will test the outbound call after this post.

As far as your question, I might have an issue with that. Comcast is my internet provider and will not give me a static IP unless I upgrade to a Business Class. Since I used Google Cloud to host the PBX software, do I still need a static IP strictly for the IP Phone?

Just tested this an still no luck! I get a busy tone with a message on the phone screen, "No Response"

does a call to voicemail work? (99,999,etc) ?

can we see your activity log please?
or direct message me ...

Looking At the logs - it looks like the phones are not registered to the PBX. Authentication fails.

And again - can you call the voicemail extension?
