So, the Skyetel 89558 update is in the SIP Trunks Section of my 3CX update. My managed services provider says we don't need to do that because Cox provides our SIP trunks, so why is it in my update queue?

You will see this message when 3CX updates any sip templates - even if you do not use it.

I just download them, just to remove the message,

Not much faith in your MSP eh? :). Anyways, the short version is there is an updated version of the template for Skyetel available and 3CX sees that. If you aren't using Skyetel trunks then you don't need it, but that doesn't change the fact that it is available.

Thanks! I just hate notifications.

I have champagne taste and on Bud Light budget when it comes to my network, so while I like my MSP, I don't LOVE my MSP. lol. No, they're good. I just don't like notifications being there looking at my every time I log in. So, if it's just there because the update is generally available, I figured I would see more irrelevant updates just sitting there as well? Hmm, you would think 3CX would have a toggle to delete or hide or something.

LOL Great answer. And as an MSP myself I like to see customers asking questions intelligently so bravo!

Yes it would be nice if you could delete phone/trunk templates you didn't use so as not to be bothered with update notices but that falls pretty low on my wishlist as far as things I'd like to see 3CX change/fix. You could always try your hand at the auto-update roulette!

You will, when 3CX released any updates

The only time you will not, if you are running windows version and 3CX is a major update and requires extra windows services that can not be down via the normal upgrade route - you will only see the updates for the version your are running.

In order to upgrade you needed to a full backup, uninstall and reinstall using the backup file - then normally only happens on major updates.

When major updates are released all the upgrade info is included in the release document

It is always better to have the latest sip templates on the system - just because you do not use that company now does not mean you will not in the future. Having the latest template could save you alot of time and hassle.

The templates are very small, and do not take that long to download

Hahaha, my MSP has a pretty firm hand on the NO button when it comes to Auto Updates. I'm game, if it breaks, it breaks, good. Now we can relay that to the provider to fix it before anyone else does it and breaks theirs. I'm an early adopter type A personality. My MSP is more reactive. o_O

It's not letting me download the update anyway. The mouse turns into the prohibited symbol when hovering over the download button. So, I guess I'll just live with a glaring red notification circle staring me down. Oh well, I tried.

You have to select the sip trunk (in this case Skyetel), and then you can click on 'Download Selected'
