Hi

I was wondering if you have a hardware phone that doesn't support iLBC can you set the phone up to use say G711 for transmission to the 3CX PBX, and this will be transcoded to iLBC for sending to the VSP - a few in Australia have recently started to support iLBC?

Not much hardware support iLBC, but hopefully this will change.

Would be very handy for saving bandwidth if this was possible with the free version of 3CX

Set the codec to use outbound to your VOIP server under the Manage Gateway, then click on your service name, under the tab "Codec Priorities" set only iLBC to the right. 3cx will use whatever the phone supports if it doesn't take the default but outbound will be made with iLBC only.
