Downgrade 8SC to 4SC

Not getting a great deal of help from 3CX as you can imagine.....
I dont want to renew a clients license to 8SC as they only have 4 staff. Does anyone have the downgrade steps to make this as easy as poss?
I know we will need to take a backup of the current system but with our without FQDN? or license
then the steps in order to avoid issues?
any tips greatly appreciated.
I also know so far from th elimited responses that I need to buy the license I need which is no problem but then what - will that rigger an install? a completely new lightsail setup etc etc?
We host on AWS and generally create keys to give 3cx access o create the lightsail that it requires.

Have you tried contacting the 3CX CSR team? They can take care of downgrading it before you renew it, since backups without FQDN/license are not possible anymore and replacing is key is now forbidden as well.

I emailed [email protected] and was told specifically:
We no longer offer downgrades to the 4SC or 8SC license tiers, as our product is optimized to deliver the best value starting from the 16SC license.


You may continue renewing in the current license size, or, if a smaller size is essential, you have the option to purchase a new subscription at the desired SC level and re-install the system.

Hi @Chris Palmer

If your customer doesn't require 8SC, you can either go to 3CX Hosted SMB or if you have lots of customers, you can run up your own Multi-Tenant environment.

Otherwise, your customer will need to move to 8SC for Pro features.
