Hello all,

One of my clients has two receptionists using Fanvil x7u phones and they rely on the soft keys and a page of function keys for transfers. They have a pretty high call volume so this is an important feature. Yesterday one of the phones lost their memory key info, and today the other one did. I rebuilt them manually through the phone GUI but couldn't figure out why they were lost in the first place.

I know there's a BLF tab in 3CX, but there isn't a Memory Key option like on the phone. Maybe I just don't understand those options well.

We're using 3CX hosted on version 18.0 update 3 and the phones are behind an SBC. The firmware on the phones is 2.4.12. The install was from the first of the year and it's been running smoothly overall. Any help would be appreciated - why did they drop their config and how can I make it more permanent? Thanks!

The reason you lost your settings when configured directly in the phone GUI.

Every 24 hours (or approx) the phones will reprovision themself and use the BLF settings within the 3CX management console.

To stop the system overwriting your settings, you could remove the provisioning url from the phone gui

It's definitely not every 24 hours, these settings were in place for over 2 months. Are there any downsides to removing the provisioning url?

Changes from the 3CX Management Console won't apply. So you change the SIP password - phone doesn't get the new password automatically.

If I want to use 3CX's BLF options, how do I configure where those map onto the phone? On the Fanvil X7U there's I think 16 side keys, then pages and pages of configurable buttons in the GUI - how do I tell 3CX where to map BLF 1, 2, 3, etc?

To 3CX it's just a list. So lets say 16 BLFs on page1, 16 on page2, etc. Page 2 BLF 1 is, in 3CX, blf17.

You can add blf lines to push items up and down as needed.

We only support X7 / X7A / X7C. Can you check the model again please?

If you program the DSS keys via the 3CX BLF settings, the phone will always update itself to keep them.

Types you can use: Speed Dial, Custom Speed Dial, or BLF

These will all allow you to transfer

John, it's X7s at the front desk, my bad. All the others in the building are X3U and I conflated those model numbers.

So it sounds like just a little trial and error to get the items exactly where you want, but once they're configured in 3CX, the problem of them vanishing should be solved.

Sounds good, once you have assigned the keys you want, reprovision the phones from the management console (or reboot them) and monitor them for a few days. They keys should remain exactly as you set them now.
