Solved Edge total crash on Intel Mac

So this is an interesting one, have been starting to use the MS Edge browser on an Intel Mac Book Pro (Big Sur 11.2.3) due to the removal of the Mac native client I thought I would try and start looking at the Webclient version. This has been installed directly from the MS Edge extensions store.

The extension runs and the users appear however try and make or receive a call and the entire browser crashes. Interesting and I am sure its related, but if you go to settings -> Integrations the same crash happens.

System Mac OSX 11.2.3
Edge: Version 89.0.774.76 (Official build) (64-bit)

Any ideas what may be causing this or more importantly how to fix it.

Just to add - done the same install in Chrome and it works perfectly - same machine, but please no responses that say Use Chrome! Edge has a significantly lower resource profile (for now).

So a bit of an update on this with the help of another user. This seems to be a problem with the production version of the browser. Following a suggestion from another user the bug has been fixed in the development version "Canary".

Been testing for the last few hours and seems stable enough.

Just as an update, I submitted this as a bug report to the MS Teams and Microsoft has pushed an update as of today to the official build that fixes the problem. (not sure the two are related though).

So this is now resolved as of MS Edge Version 90.0.818.39 (update # 90.818.21041539)
