Editing phone extensions and password changes

We are a school district with 30 phone extension changes this year. Normally I would changed the first and last name and email address and clear the extensions vm. I can no longer do this. If I go to change the name... In order to save the change I have to change all of the authentication passwords. If I do that the phone will not work once re-booted. I have to be missing something. Please help...

The warning to change the authentication passwords appears because the passwords of the extensions do not meet the recommendations for security. We would suggest to regenerate all extension passwords and reprovision the IP phones before you change the names.
