Trying to setup extensions and its not allowing me without an email address? These are dummy extensions and voicemail is disabled. Never happened until this new install today

The behavior you see is expected. Since service pack 6, it is required to enter an email address when creating an extension. For dummy extensions, you can use invalid email addresses.

On what build?

are you sure you dont have "send email on missed call" enabled?

Please allow me to clarify further regarding your question.

In Update 6 the "Send email notification only" and "Send email notification on missed call" features are enabled for newly created users.

This is why you are unable to add a new user without specifying his email address.
You may disable the mentioned features and add a user without an email address specified.

It doesn't make sense to set these email notifications to be on as a default for all new users created. Do you have to turn these off for every new user, or is there a global setting to change before new users are added to will turn these notifications off. This should not have been a new default setting for every user. Who wants an email for every missed call??

Hi @msiedschlaw

Currently, both options need to be disabled every time a new extension is created as there is no option to disable them globally.

I have an hotel to set so for each room extension I need that manual setting? if so, it's a waste of time IMO

You still have the option to copy an extension. In your scenario. I would build out an extension to be your template, hit copy extension at the top of the User page and can add additional extension numbers quickly without have to go and uncheck those boxes for each new user.

An email address is also required when editing an existing user, when:
  • all 3 items are off
  • one edits the user in the new web client admin panel
The email is not required when editing the user in the management portal.

Screen cap of all those together:

I seem to be experiencing this with a new installation at 18.0 update 6, even with voimemail to email set to none, an email address is needed when using the Management console. Why? Is this now normal?

edit: i missed the "missed call notification" check box. this is still not ideal, but whatever. Still better than dealing with Avaya none sense. thanks eveeryone.
