encrypted folder can't be backed up

Greetings, We just encrypted our recordings folder using EFS within Windows, and now backups are failing. Does anyone have any suggestions how things need to be set up so that backups will be successful? Is it still possible to do a command-line backup like in the old days? The only thing I'd thought to try was starting the backup that way as a different user, presumably I could start it as the owner of the encrypted folder and maybe that would do it?
