Testing out EveryoneAPI. It tests fine in the management console. When I call my test extension, it fires up a tab that says “https://api.everyoneapi.com is requesting your username and
password. The site says: “Login Required”” that will not take my account username and password, will not take the API SID and AuthToken, that takes focus from everything else in the browser.

I turned EveryoneAPI off within the management console and it persists. It persists across browsers and across computers. So. Even though I'm theoretically no longer running EveryoneAPI from the CRM, EveryoneAPI continues to ask for a login I can't give it.

Here's all I got from the console.

How do I make this work? Hell, how do I turn this off? The receptionists aren't outraged yet but it's just a matter of time...

It appears that cycling "Automatically open Contact URL when CRM Integration is Enabled" in the webclient integration tab cycled this. Bloody weird though.

Hello @SethTalley,

You need to open the 3CX Web Client > Settings > Integration > and select "Off". This way no popup will be issued when you receive a call at your extension.

3CX needs to add the contact details obtained from EveryoneAPI into 3CX Contacts. This is due to how the 3CX CRM engine works. And one of the parameters required when adding a "CRM" type contact to 3CX Contacts is the Contact URL. If we don't provide this, the contacts will be duplicated every time they call in. This is how 3CX identifies each contact. This Contact URL is passed on to the Web Client, and by default it will automatically launch that URL in a new browser tab when you receive the call. Turning off this from the Web Client will prevent this from happening, while keeping the Contact URL in 3CX Contacts, which is mandatory.

In the case of EveryoneAPI, you don't need this popup, you only want to see the caller's name, so it's totally safe to turn it off.

Also, even if you turn off the integration, the contacts that were already in 3CX Contacts have this URL, so you will continue seeing it if you don't turn off the setting from the Web Client. Other option is deleting the contacts from the 3CX Console > Advanced > Contacts.

Kind regards.

Thanks, Ernesto. I stumbled across that last night. It seems to me that that configuration should be server-side so that end-users can't tie themselves in a knot... but then, if you'd put it server-side I would have ruined the world for the entire office so we'll just chalk that one up to learning curve.

Thanks again.

You know, Ernesto, when I look at the address book I see all the stuff pulled in by EveryoneAPI. If I click on the "CRM" button it launches that useless window again. And I don't have an "edit" button for the "CRM" contacts. So I've got a whole bunch of blank phone numbers being added to our phone book with no way to edit them outside of the management console. What's your guys' thinking on resolving this? Because expected behavior would be "CRM" launches an edit window.

The integration is server side, and indeed when enabled, it works for every call from an external number.

Contacts of type "CRM" in 3CX Contacts can't be edited. They will be synchronized when they call the next time, and any update in EveryoneAPI will be applied to the contact in 3CX Contacts. Clicking the "CRM" label in 3CX contacts is intended to be used with other CRMs, in which you have control of the contacts. In those cases, you edit the contact in the CRM, and the changes are synchronized back. Here you don't have access to the EveryoneAPI database, so you can't edit the contacts there. Unfortunately there is no way to edit them in 3CX either, only "normal" contacts added from the console can be edited.

I get that. Said another way, perhaps EveryoneAPI should be integrated as other than a CRM...?

Probably, but there is no other point of integration at the moment... It's true that some external systems don't fit perfectly well in this schema, and this is probably one of them...

Copy that. I'm sure it's cooking somewhere amongst the coders.
