Extension Caller ID

What is the purpose of the outbound Caller ID on each extension (under 'Other' in the extension properties) if the Voip/PSTN Gateway has an outbound Caller ID?

It can be used to change the outgoing CID, of that one line, when using a VoIP provider (if permitted by that provider). If left blank, then usually the default CID (for the trunk group used), will be sent.

PSTN and GSM gateways are not affected as the CID is "fixed" by the provider.
