Extension not getting multiple calls

Hi there,

I am using call queues and have it ring all for when a call comes into a department. I was told that when an extension is on a call and another call comes it, that extension doesn't ring or get notified of another call only the ones who are not on a call ring, I have the extension set to allow multiple calls. They want it so the extension is on a call for the phone to still ring/get notified as sometimes they're the only person working and able to answer call. How can i set this up?

You would need to utilise ring groups with "accept multiple..." as this doesnt work with queues. However, you'll lose queue features.

i used ring groups previously with accept multiple calls and it didn't work. Also while someone in the ring group was on a call, no one else in the group was getting calls which is why i changed to call queue

In that case you may need to use custom templates to turn on notification on call waiting

...and, no, it won't work with queues.

Do bear in mind that the particular parameter might allow ring group calls to also hit busy extensions, but, it has been known to also cause unexpected behavior when enabled, ranging from dropped calls to unwanted call routing, etc. That said, we would not recommend enabling, but, if you must, do bear in mind that it will render the 3CX PBX at hand an unsupported config.
