External Calling

I will be Installing 3CX on a RAspi 4B in a complex with 180 residence. Each resident will have the app installed on their phone so when a visitor arrives for a resident the security guard at gate will call the unit extension. I am a bit confused as to how this link between the guard house phone and the resident phone takes place? Is it through the Cloud? and if the resident is not on site but out shopping somewhere will he still receive the call on his cell phone extension or does it only work internally? Sorry very new to all this.

Goodmorning,

When the resident is out shopping and has an internet connecon active on their mobile phone the call on the 3cx app will come through.

As @JosIPVG pointed out, if both PBX and mobile app have an internet connection they should be able to receive calls wherever they are.

I do have to point out though that from 3CX v18 U3 the Raspberry pi is not supported to host the PBX.

Thank you for your prompt reply, would it be better to run the new PBX on a windows 10 machine or Linux Ubuntu?

If Linux you would have to use the 3CX ISO to deploy which deploys a Debian 10 machine(Ubuntu is not supported).

If you already have a Windows 10 machine on site you could use it may be easier, but, resource wise I would recommend deploying a Linux machine with our iso.
