Hi,

I set up a GXP2000 and a S685IP as external connections according the youtube nugget. I don't know what the [x*]. is good for though. If I call the S685IP, it rings, but there is no audio at all. It registers to a dyndns domain and I put that domain name in everything, took it back out of Outgoing Proxy, but it's always the same.
That's happening when I call the extension:

I have a port forward on the remote side for port 5060, 5014 to 5018 and on the local side for all recommended ports. On both sides are Linksys WRTs with DD-WRT. Firewalls are both off. Also tried it with "Audio via PBX" without a positive result.

Thanks

Heinz

Make sure the RTP ports are open as well on the remote side. If they cant hear you remote, their audio is being stripped at their end.

Hi, if both extensions are remote make sure that the phones are using stun and are aware they're behind a NAT router. The grandstreams have specific options that make it aware it's behind NAT.

These log entries should be joined to the external IP's

19:50:34.011 [CM503007]: Call(10): Device joined: sip:[email protected]:5070
19:50:34.011 [CM503007]: Call(10): Device joined: sip:[email protected]:5060;line=55326

Also use the Firewall checker in 3CX to make sure it's setup properly.

Heinz,

Could you please provide complete information?
The selected log messages mean that you, definitely, have changed default configuration. Am I wrong?

Thanks

Hi,

OK, my configuration for that case. I must say the phone already worked, but through VPN on local addresses. VPN was a bit too slow though.

S685 side:
DD-WRT forwards port 5014 to 5018 and 5070 to 192.168.100.107, which is the siemens. It works perfectly with some sipgate accounts.

Register Name: 200

Other settings:

Coincident ports: No
Sip Port: 5070
RTP Port: 5014 - 5018

SNOM M3:
Internal phone, works fine everywhere except Sipgate voicemail. Even 10005 works but that's another issue. Address is 192.168.102.102

3CX Server, Win2003Server, receives 5060, 5061 UDP/TCP, 5090 TCP, 9000 to 9049 UDP from Gateway 192.168.102.254, DD-WRT, firewall disabled

Default settings, except Audio via PBX, e164 settings and probably "Public IP to specify in Contact and SDP for external entities".
I tried some things there like dyndns name, public IP and local IP without success, so I cleared this entry again.
One thing is that this Sipgate Voicemail is not working from any phone behind the PBX that is doing Audio via PBX and the Server activity looks pretty much the same as with the external extensions.
I even put the 3cx on DMZ to see what happens, made no difference.

Thanks for all the help

Heinz

This problem has been partly solved. I installed 3CX on a Notebook and configured it from scratch. After that the obove mentioned extension was working. After installing the 2003 Server from scratch 3CX ran from that server as well. It seems there was a problem coming from the operating system. However, the problem perists with my connection from work and I think I can't do anything about it since there is a port translation in place and the phone keeps registering with all kind of different ports. Tunnel is also not working. The only thing that works from that network is PPTP VPN and then a local conenction to the PBX.

Conclusion: If the external extensions don't work try a totally different PC if you run out of ideas.

I have spent ages making my external extension work.

I also have Grandstream phones.

Make sure you use UDP and not TCP in the phones set up.
Set "YES" to use stun server.
Obviously forward the stun server port in your firewall.
Enter the stun address in the Advanced settings.

I will post a full write up after i install my system this weekend.

I have also found i can only connect when i use the IP address and NOT the DNS name to direct my phone to the PBX WAN address.

I use a DNS name to connect remote sets back to 3CX with no issues. What I suspect is causing problems is the remote phones lack of access to a DNS server. Setting the phone to use DHCP should cause it pick up DNS server info from the router. If you have used a fixed IP you can either try entering known DNS server IP's (or two) or the IP of the LOCAL router.

I think my case is really firewall related. I can't even get out with the 3CX Tunnel and the Softphone. Only a real VPN does the trick.
