Hi ,

have a question about Failover for Registration-based SIP Trunk providers in 3CX.
If the Alternative Proxy is currently used, will 3CX automatically switch to the primary proxy when the primary server recovers? Is it re-registered to the primary proxy according to the re-register time?

Thanks

No it will not. If the PBX is registered to the alternative proxy it will remain registered there until failure or until the service / PBX is restarted.
We have no way of telling when the primary server will recover so instead of deregistering from the alternative proxy and dropping all active calls in the meantime to try and see if the primary target is back up we stay registered to the target we know works.

Hi YiannisH,
Thanks for your reply. Got it.
If the alternative proxy fails and the primary server is available, will it try to register with the primary server?

Yes it will. It depends on the exact scenario and the options in the trunk settings regarding IP mode and transport protocol but if the alternative target fails the PBX will go back to the primary registrar.
