Hi all,
We've got a couple of hundred Fanvil X3G and X4G handsets and lot more staff using softphones. As our organisation has grown across multiple offices, and with the number of virtual extensions fronting things like ring groups etc, we've blown the 500 limit on the Fanvil address book. This is now a major problem for those who need to search by name on the phones (a popular method) and who aren't necessarily able to use a softphone (web, Windows, Mac or smartphone).
I'm contacting Fanvil directly to see if there's a possibility of them increasing the limit to 1000 as per the higher end models.
In the meantime, I am not sure there's anything else I can do unless anyone has any ideas?
One thought I had is this idea that the address book is built based on the Group(s) the extension is in, which is then provided as the XML file to the phone during provisioning etc. In most cases each office only need to see staff in that location or perhaps a second location for some. Those who need to see staff across the organisation either have an X5 or use a softphone.
I can't go and replace the phones and as I say, not everyone can use a softphone. But given the size of the business, people need to search by name.
Any ideas, very gratefully received.
