Hi community,

I am new with 3CX and have a question about using Fanvil FDPS together with 3CX.
We have an own FDSP account and registered our devices.
I created a profile with the ip address from our LAB 3CX in the UPNP settings.

As soon as I assign a phone to an extension in 3CX the mac address of the phone is missing in our FDPS account and Fanvil support sees this mac address at the FDSP account of 3CX.
I never get this phone back to our account unless Fanvill support corrects this.

My question: How do I setup 3CX to not hijack the device from our FDSP account?

Regards
Thomas

Hi Thomas,

The reason is the following: If you use STUN mode on 3CX, we will send an RPS request to Fanvil, so the phone can find the PBX and get provisioned. This entry will expire in two weeks. If you press ok while editing your extension settings again, this gets renewed for another two weeks.

We do not support 3rd party solutions (including the method you mention above) so the simple answer is to never set your phones in STUN via 3CX if you don't want this to happen.

Possible solutions:

You can consider using SBC, thus negating the need to manage your own FDPS entirely. The SBC is versatile in different network environments, and also removes many of the STUN prerequisites that should also be in place when using STUN phones.

Alternatively (although not recommended) you could create custom 3CX templates and set the RPS value to 0 so that 3CX never sends an RPS request to begin with. This can work, but it means that you no longer receive template updates, we do not support custom templates, and what's worse you lose the benefits the SBC has to offer.

Hope this answers your question, let me know if otherwise!

Thank you for the quick response!
If I understand that correct, after 2 weeks the device will be deleted from the 3CX FDSP account and I can add it to our account again without intervention from 3CX or Fanvil?

Thomas

Hi Thomas,

Yes this is correct. But going forward, do keep in mind what I said above about the entry becoming renewed.
