Solved Fanvil Fw 2.4.7 has a new "sleep" settings

Greetings all,

I noticed this in my office, and then a customer emailed me about it.
Since the latest Fanvil firmware update a couple of weeks ago, the phone (I can't figure out on what schedule yet) goes totally blank, all keys off, with the LED message steady on, which looks like it's disconnected from the network.

Anyone knows how to cancel this feature ?

At least on X210 and X6
It did it again on mine this morning. I took a picture, not that it can help, but I you want it..

You must be referring to the energy saving feature of the phone that kicks in after it has been idle for 16 hours.

Phone Settings > Advanced > Power Saving

We do not provision this option so if you change it the phone will remember it.

Had the phone for about 6 months without ever having this showing up.
My customer had an X6 as a trial for 3 months without the phone ever having done this.
The only thing that change in common with them and I is a new template released about 3 weeks ago.

I'd bet this was not here in the previous one.
Thanks for the hint @JohnS_3CX - Would it be possible to have it set to 0 in the default template, so 3CX does not yell saying that those phones have a custom template?

Hi,

As I mentioned earlier, we do not provision actually this option, what you found above does not affect the sleep behavior.

Generally we avoid provisioning anything other than the basics, this gives you the flexibility to change settings on the phone without our provisioning overwriting them.

well.. if the feature is now 1 then the phone will go into saving mode as you said after 16hrs.
im just pointing that for 6 months it never did it, until 3 weeks ago when a new template was released.
if it were me only, I could say I m wrong, but my customer with Fanvils has the exact same behavior now while it never did it in the past.. No worries, we know where it is now. but I say it would be better to leave this as 0 in the default template. thank you.

The old firmware did not have this setting here:



But the option <Enable_Energysaving>1</Enable_Energysaving> has existed since 2020, so how would this affect a feature that appeared in 2021?

Test it yourself so you can also confirm that the parameter is unrelated:

1. create a custom template, set the value to 0
2. then reset and provision your phone using the custom template
3. check value in Phone UI
4. edit template again, set value to 1
5. reprovision phone
6. check value in Phone UI

You will clearly see that this value in the screenshot above, does not change no matter if you set it to 1 or 0, because they are unrelated.


Conclusion: this is a new firmware feature Fanvil added, that 3CX does not provision. You can disable it it manually on your phones, and our provisioning will leave it alone exactly as you set it. If we leave it as zero in our default template like you asked, it will make no difference to the sleep mode at all.

I encourage you to perform the experiment yourself to confirm it, before replying back

You are da bomb. My apologies. It was actually a firmware upgrade in march and not a template, even though there was a template update a couple of weeks ago.

I'm glad to hear You can go ahead and disable it in all your phones now and it will stay that way.

Keep a note in case you ever reset the phones so you can put the setting in again!
