Solved Fanvil PA2 to amplifier

Hi guys

we have a system currently which goes aux to RCA (current pbx to amplifier connected to speakers). And this is fine.
My colleague made a cable from an RCA and wired it in to the speaker (- +) port on the PA2 but we have a continuous buzz over the speakers, there’s interference somewhere - the 3CX to the pa speakers works fine though. Can anyone confirm if a) we’ve wired it right b) there’s a software setting on the pa2 that can mitigate this

Barring this being a faulty unit, I would also check for any interference sources like

- wireless DECT phones/stations
- wireless cameras
- powerlines
- machinery (if in a workshop)


- If you can, take the unit and speaker and install it elsewhere temporarily to see if this goes away
- If your speaker is already amplified on its own, avoid connecting its input to amplified outputs of the PA2 (ie. connect it to the output labelled "Headset" instead)
- Use shielded speaker cables
- The PA2 can be grounded to avoid interference

Hi John,

I'm not an AV guy but I did some googling and found some info that would suggest I've got a "ground loop" from having my equipment (PA and amp) on different ACs. I'm going back today and im going to put them both on the same extension lead and see where I go from there. I dont think the PA is faulty, i think its just interference.

John, on another note. Whilst testing yesterday I was able to just dial the ext of hte PA and it started paging. Is there a way to restrict this? The ext I called from doesnt have paging rights.

I think it will behave the same even if you call it directly (page code aside).

You can look into its settings onboard the device to see if you can possibly set restrictions as to who can call it

Our PSU wasnt supplying enough amps. Changing this sorted our problem.

I have several PA2s in use right now. I hooked up all of them the same way you did (RCA to bare wire, connected to speaker terminals on PA2).

All of them worked fine, except one, which had the same problem that you describe.

After swapping cables and amps, with no luck, I used the 3.5mm terminal on the PA2 to connect to the amp. Worked perfectly without buzz. It's actually an easier connection to make.

Isnt that aux for input only?

If id have known that I could have just used the cable that already existed on the current PBX.

That's what I thought originally. It's actually an output with a mix of the call legs for recording. The docs for the PA2 suck and don't explain that at all.
