Hi All,

We've upgraded all of our Fanvil X4G phones to 2.8.0.6251 firmware and we have two customers that we have just installed 3CX for and installed X4G phones and upgraded to this firmware.

We've started to notice various issues including intermittent 'SIP Register Failed' messages on the phones, random disconnecting of calls, delay in audio answering queue calls, DSS lights not showing and not being able to call numbers from the 3CX Web Client.

On the other side, we have a customer that has X4G phones where we have not got round to upgrading the firmware and they are not reporting any issues. Also one of our phones would not take the new firmware and that user has said he does not have issues with his phone.

I am certain there are issues with the mentioned version of the firmware and before I downgrade 20 phones to the previous version I'd like to see if anyone else is having the issues?

Thanks in advance.

We are experiencing issues as well on a few of our phones, but not all that I am aware of. Where can I get a copy of the firmware prior to 2.8.0.6251 in case I need to downgrade our phones as well?

Thanks,
David

Hi All,

Apologies for the delay updating, I was not notified of any other updates to the thread.

We have downgraded all of the phones to the Firmware version provided by @Paul Otter and all of the issues have gone.

Fanvil seriously messed this firmware up, the issues were varied but at it's worst calls were being disconnected and phones could not communicate with the PBX. To say it caused some complaints with customers is an understatement.

Anyway all fixed now, fingers burnt, won't be so quick to install firmware in future even if 3CX are saying my phones are not supported.

David

I've been having issues for weeks and had thought them solved. Just upgraded to the latest 3cx release and more problems! How can we downgrade the firmware without going to each unit?

Thanks.

There is no way to downgrade in bulk that I know of, you have to do it phone by phone. Luckily I only had 30 to do.

looks like another version of the firmware released yesterday! More "SIP Optimation"! Bloody hell we have a customer with nearly 50 of these bloody phones with loads of niggly issue as well as big one!

Has anyone upgraded to the latest firmware or is everyone stick with the 5572 version?

I updated my client this week still many issues! All in the OP's post!

I have noticed many issues- bad incoming audio, BLF not working properly for example - since upgrading. Its weeks and this is the first I have sen that its might be a firmware issue. I'm going to try a downgrade see what happens.

Are 3CX team going to do something? This updated introduced a lot of random problems with Fanvil phones for your customers.

Hi guys,

I just want to inform you that the mentioned issues are already reported to the phone manufacturer since the first post was posted here and they are already working on it.
It takes some time because Fanvil guys can't reproduce these issues on their side and trying to get all possible information from us and end users. Some customers are already connected directly to the Fanvil support ( [email protected] ) and provided them with all the possible information. You can do the same.

As they informed us, these issues are happening in some specific cases (probably networks).
Most of the users don't have them and Fanvil guys are trying to understand what is causing these issues and how to fix them.

We will upload the new FW as soon as the new tested FW version would be provided by Fanvil guys.

Just want to share some info here.

I had the similar issue on one of my customer's side. Very strange - All other customers were okay and only this one had an issue.
Anyway, after playing around with the X4G phones for 3 days, I disabled one setting in Network Settings and all phones are okay for the last 2 days. no issues at all...
Here is it:

Try to disable it. It can help to solve your issues.

If it helps you too, please share that information, so the other guys will know it.
Also, if it helps to everyone who have these issues, I hope, 3CX will disable it from the default template.

FYI,I downgraded and all is well again. Will wait for new version from 3CX.

PhoneMaster, what version of firmware did you see issue that was fixed by disabling CDP? Latest?

Hi fergus4,
My customer is running the 3CX V16 beta version, so I updated his Fanvil phones to the 2.10.0.6586 version which is the latest 3CX supported version.

Hello guys,

We got the confirmation from the Fanvil team and they confirmed that the "Cisco Discovery Protocol (CDP)" feature is the source of the mentioned issues ( thanks Phonemaster :) !).
The CDP feature was not provisioned by the 3CX template and was disabled by default in the previously supported versions of the Fanvil phones.
In the latest versions, they decided to enable it and it caused the mentioned issues.

We already published new provisioning templates for the Fanvil phones where the CDP feature is disabled.
Please download the new templates, confirm that they are properly downloaded (you need to see a higher version of Fanvil templates in the Settings->Templates page of 3CX Management Console), re-provision your phones and update them to the latest 3CX supported versions of the Fanvil phones.

Hi all,
the new provisioning template solves only partially the problems caused by new firmware.
We have all the phones connected to a headphones and, unlike what happened before, now receiving a call by lifting the receiver the audio is still conveyed through the headphones.
This is a problem because the operator does not always wear headphones and it is often useful to answer directly by lifting the handset.
The workaround I found is disconnect headphone, of course, but it isn't so comfortable.
Waiting good news.
Thank you all.
