On the Fanvil X6, there is a message icon on the home screen, that takes you to an Inbox/Sent/Outbox screen. I am able to create and send messages using the Fanvil X6 desk phone, however, I'm hoping there's a way to integrate this with the 3CX chat and SMS features.
My goal is to show users on their desk phones if they have un-read chat/sms messages, similar to how they can see unread voicemails.

Has anyone been able to connect the "Messages/SMS" feature on the Fanvil X6 with 3CX? I've looked through the Fanvil X6 web GUI and didn't' find any options, or in the 3CX phone provisioning page.

Thanks,

Seeing as how 3CX chat has never integrated with any phones and it's been around for ages I think you are reaching here. The trend is AWAY from hardware phones so I doubt you'll see any traction in this direction. Besides, why would one want to try to do chat/messages on such a limited device. As someone who's all thumbs when it comes to texting that would be even worse than trying to message on my mobile device.

I agree that our users wouldn't ever send messages with this, but I do see them relying on it as their notification that they have an unread message. Just like many of our users rely on their desk phone to notify them of missed calls or voicemail, it would be helpful if their phone notified them of new chat messages. I'd imagine they would then visit the web client to respond and read their messages. But most of our users only use the web client to record their voicemail or change their BLF keys, and don't check it every day. So they would miss incoming chat messages without some type of notification on their phone.

Thanks for the info about 3CX never integrating with other phones. I'll look into other ways to notify users of chat messages.

The web client and the windows client should both notify of new chat messages so that's probably the best bet. I suppose with the v18 and rest API there might be something you can cobble together there. And maybe 3CX will add a feature like other chat services do (like Teams) where it will email you after a period of time if a message is unread, although if the messages are time sensitive that might be too late.

Yeh, I think the 3CX browser extension will be our solution. It pop-ups a notification when a chat comes in. Our users don't always have the web client open, but they almost always have their browser open, which will ensure they get notified of incoming sms/chats, and it seems to keep the un-read counter over the extension icon until they view the message, which is basically what I was looking for from the phone.
