I have a Grandstream HT801 on a 3cx V16.3 that I want to use as a fax service.
i followed this site for instuctions how to install it.

https://www.3cx.com/voip-gateways/grandstream-ht-fxs/

in step 7 it goes wrong. I can't download the xml file to upload in the Grandstream HT801
It wil give a network error

The 3cx is installed in the cloud on a linux server.

Is there a other way to download the file ?

Since the ATAs work on Local LAN only, if you are remote it won't work neither for download nor for the registration. You would need a VPN or to manually configure the ATA with an SBC (not recommended for fax).

I know that the ATA has to be on the lan but I want simply first download the xml file from the 3cx.
And this is not working.

Our customer has a internet connection and the 3cx in the cloud is connected via ip-vpn to that location.
We also use Yealink Phones and they are also provisioned via LAN and that is no problem

Then the file should download normally. Maybe try clearing your cache or verify the config? Maybe 3CX cannot generate the file so it gives an error.

Have you tried with both HTTP and HTTP (as above depending on where you are located) if you are trying this remotely and HTTPS is blocked however you wont be able to download.

Have you tried perhaps altering the link and using public IP instead, if you are having DNS related issues for example this could be the issue.

You would need a VPN or to manually configure the ATA with an SBC (not recommended for fax).

Just to re-highlight the important point here - for FAX machines use locally or across VPN only.

I have solved the problem.
Logged in on the domain controller at our customer.
Logged in the 3cx and could download the xml file.
I had tried that earlier on a other server at the customer but that did not work because it was blocked from the phone domain.

Thank you eddv123 and Frederick Marcoux
