When i try to test an incomming fax to our new 3cx voip server i have the problem that the line will disconnect.

The incomming line is working fine, but when i set the "wich calls are faxes" option to 'All calls' any caller or incomming fax will be disconnected, in the logfile of the server i can see the following:

15:41:58.148 MediaServerReporting::RTPReceiver [MS105000] C:310.2: No RTP packets were received:remoteAddr=192.168.17.40:10008,extAddr=0.0.0.0:0,localAddr=192.168.17.40:7022
15:41:58.148 Call::Terminate [CM503008]: Call(310): Call is terminated
15:41:58.101 LineCfg::getInboundTarget [CM503011]: Inbound out-of-office hours' rule for DID:Faxen forwards to Fax:88
15:41:58.101 LineCfg::getInboundTarget [CM503009]: DID rule (Faxen) is applied to call from sip:[email protected]:5060 to XXXXXXXXXXXX
15:41:58.086 LineCfg::getInboundTarget [CM503011]: Inbound out-of-office hours' rule for DID:Faxen forwards to Fax:88
15:41:58.086 LineCfg::getInboundTarget [CM503009]: DID rule (Faxen) is applied to call from sip:[email protected]:5060 to XXXXXXXXXXXX

The services on the server (server 2008) are running fine, the version is the latest version (if i can believe the auto update function)

what next to do?

Are you using a Patton gateway? I see you are running on Windows 2008 server - we have not tested that platform yet btw.

No, i am not using a gateway, i use a SIP line from a dutch provider (solcon) we also use them for our normal in and outbound call's and accept for DTMF tones (dialing menu's of the party's we are calling are not working but i am busy with that right now) everything seems to work fine. i will try to make an backup and restore on an windows XP Pro machine in the end of the day.

Just made an backup of the 2008 server and restored it on an windows XP-pro installation but i still have the same error like on the 2008 server.

[edit] Also when i use an 'internal' voip telephone to dial '88' (default fax) i get the same error in the logfile, i think at least i need to get an FAX tone?

Download a tool called wireshark, and you should be able to trace whats happening.

You may find its your provider which is causing the problem - t.38 is still very unstable over the internet.

I am alrady tracing with wireshark but even when i call with an cell phone to the fax only number the line gets disconnected without an fax tone, even when i call with an internal voip phone to the fax extension (88 default) i get the error so i think it is somthing different. also as far as i can see in wireshark i cant find anything strange.

Receiving the exact same problem here. Have a supported Grandstream gateway (GXW4104) setup and configured via 3CX instructions. Have never been able to get fax to email to work. My log is identical to yours, and also when I manually call get disconnected promptly.

Same here. Using XeLoQ, 3cx approved sip provider.

Hey there,

Just wanted to let you know that 3CX currently does not support fax over VoIP.

Thanks,
