Ok,

Im pretty pissed at the moment.I have spent the last 2 hours trying to find docs on how to install the Fax server and configure it properly...Where are they? This is ridiculous!

I finally found the 3cx fax server through the Links menu in the 3cx management app. So that is installed and i have the MS Fax server role installed on win2k3.

However, i cannot send faxes yet...in the window fax console is says fatal error...

3cx log is below:

First basic test when you test sending a fax is to make a normal call to its number. Now, from one of your phone extensions, please try to call 6027077545.

All i can say is that it could be a Gateway misconfiguration issue or you forgetting to put the Outbound rule you set for your PSTN Line in front of the number you are sending the fax to.

Calling from my soft works just fine and connects to outside fax machine.

Does any one know were some docs are that explain how to setup the fax server? Its possible i dont have it configured correctly. And i see nothing in the manual about it!

Ok, if you provided the tracelog sequence coming from fax, then provide also the one for call coming from your soft. The tracelog line
10:26:23.008 [CM503014]: Call(10): No known route to target: <sip:[email protected]:5060;user=phone>
shows that NO outbound rule is matched - therefore, no fax-related issue at this moment.

Ok guys,

I checked outbound rules, and there was a rule there, not sure how it got there cuase i didnt create it. But there was one that said extensions 100-400. Now im new to all this phone stuff, but the fax server extension in 3cx says 888, so i changed the line to 100-400,888

I am still getting a fatal error in the fax console, but It appears that its connecting.

The log now looks liek this:

Same problem here...

This is my post: http://www.3cx.com/forums/lot-of-problem-with-fax-sender-12384.html

I think we can join our posts...

Outbound fax is not part of 3CX Phone System. Its is provided as is and not guarantueed or supported

Secondly, i can see from your logs that you are not using a gateway but a provider. This is not a tested config. To use the outbound fax server module you must use a patton or grandstream gateway, not a provider.

I'm using a Patton SN4554, but it's not functional too...

Hi

Fax sending is a chain with many links, a generic description:
- document print to fax
- microsoft fax server convert the document to a TIF
- microsoft fax server invokes 3CX fax sending module
- 3CXfax sending module takes the TIF and send it to PBX's 3CX fax server
- 3CX fax server ask PBX for outbound call
- PBX find the rule to the corresponding destination / gateway
- PBX makes call to the destination fax machine
- 3CX fax server negotiate with gateway
- gateway negotiate with fax machine
- 3CX fax server send the TIF to the fax machine

Now, for testing, a brief overview:
1 - to test if document is properly converted to TIF, choose to "print to file" and see if this succeeds and TIF image is OK.
2 - to test if 3CX fax sending module is in a properly connection with 3CX fax Server, send the fax to 888. Possible failures here: microsoft fax server not (properly) configured to use 3CX fax sending module, port not properly set, firewall issue, 3CX fax server not running, no 888 defined. If succeeds, the fax should be received as attachement of the eMail received by the fax contact person.
3 - to test if remote fax machine is reachable, from an extension phone call it. If doesnt reached, possible failure reasons are: no proper outbound rule, invalid phone number, gateway not working.
4 - now, if fax sending fails, possible failure reasons: 3CX fax server misconfigured, gateway misconfigured, gateway not supported, fax machine not appropriate, firewall/NAT issues, too high transmission rate, noisy analog line.

Most common issues falls to 4 - and are the most difficult to debug since involves specific MODELS of gateways and fax machines.

Sorry im a bit confused..what do you mean a provider? Im using a Sangoma T1 Card (PRI) which is connected a T1 line.

Sorry to say but have you read the introduction in the sangoma guide?

http://www.3cx.com/voip-gateways/sangoma.html

Sangoma does NOT have fax capability. The current version of Netborder Express Gateway software does not provide FAX capabilities.

this is an issue we can not solve from 3cx side. sorry
