Hello,

i have a question regarding inbound and outbound faxing with 3cx.

My Setup:

We have two Grandstream HT701 which are connected to printers / fax devices

Inbound:

I have created two normal extensions with authentication id and password
For DID's i created two rules that everything that comes in to the extensions will go to the 3cx fax server.

Question: What does "Fax Extension Authentification Password" mean in the fax servet tab ? Do i need this one because i already have two passwords that were created with the extensions

Outbound:

On both Grandstream Devices i filled in sip user id and the password that 3cx created for the extension.

Is this the correct way how to setup inbound an outbound faxing ?

What are the menu points FAX Extensions and FXS/DECT for ?

You need to create fax extensions, not normal extensions, and register HT-701 as fax extensions. Otherwise operation will not be reliable.
Also your provider should support T.38 for fax.
In DID rules you select 'send fax to device ...' and select fax extensions.

Hello,
i created them as you said.

Why do i have to create an inbound rules to send the fax to the fax-extensions ?
I thought i can use the fax server for it ?

I have these options

88 ([email protected])
55 (FAXDevice)
58 (FAXDevice)

You can receive fax-to-email by configuring DID to 88.
If you want to receive fax on fax machine, connected to HT701 (with fax extensions numbers 55 and 58) you need to configure corresponding DIDs to fax devices 55 and 58.

For sending you can use only fax devices 55 and 58, i.e. the fax machines attached to HT701s.

Hello,

thanks for you answer.

Could tell me what is the FAX Extension Authentication Password in the Fax Server for ?
What do i have to fill in there ?

Fill-in something strong as a password, I don't think it is used for anything, except security, as hackers theoretically could create another extension 88 and make outbound calls on behalf of your PBX. I recall somebody reported in the forums that was hacked through fax extension 88 (or 888).

Hello,

its working now ! Thank you

Is it possible to create multiple fax servers ?

Or send it to another email if a different extension is called ?

Yes, you can point a DID to e-mail of any regular extension, so you need enough DIDs only.
Not possible to create other fax servers, but you don't need them.
