finding password on former staffer's handset

We have a phone that was used several years ago by a staff person who is no longer here, and not reachable. They did not provide their password to the handset when they left. Is there anyway we can get into that phone, clear out the old voice mails, and assign the handset to a new staff person?

I would look up how to factory default the phone on the web for the model of phone you have.

You can easily change the password in the console. You can also access the PhoneUI from the console.

Do you mean a password on the phone (hardware), or the PIN in 3CX against the extension?
In the case of the hardware...
This can all depend on the particular set, and, if the password is the "admin" password. On some devices, unless you know the admin password, you cannot re-set the device. You may need to do some research on how easily the set is returned to "factory default", and the steps involved.
