firmware update to version 20

i have a system that has weak passwords on their phones. Will that cause them not to work with version 20 update? i am working on getting them updated; but to get all of the systems I need to get done by May 31st, i would like to know if I can just update this system without phones dying, lol!

You regenerate the passwords before you update for all extensions, this should also send a reprovision request to the phones to reprovision automatically to take the new passwords.

would that not also update user web client passwords and voicemail passwords? Or, am I looking at this incorrectly?

It will update what you choose to regenerate the password for, I suggest regenerating everything and sending a new welcome email to the webclient users to change their password and re-scan the QR code from their web clients for any mobile apps.
