Hi,

We want to use the dial code to force in/out office because the work times of the front desk staff is dynamic, so the first one who comes in dials *641 and the last one who leaves the front desk at night dials *642.

A select group of extensions are configured in forwarding rules to Auto Switch status Available/DND based on the office hours. However at this time it doesn't seem to work with the force in/out.

When I enter *642 those extensions do not switch to DND automatically and that is the behaviour I would need to make sure that after hours hotel guests that dial the reception/housekeeping/tech are forwarded to the on-duty manager's extension (Forwarding rule DND -> forward to extension ..)

Why does auto-switch work when the hours are pre-configured but not when using the in/out dial code?

Hello @AlexFL

Please note that the dial codes force the system to In or Out of office hours and do not apply for extensions. The dial codes only affect the Inbound rules of the system as they are designed as emergency dial codes in case there is a need to stop or re-route inbound calls.

Hi YiannisH,

Thanks for your response. In each extensions forwarding rules there is the item auto switch:

"Automatically switch status to available during office hours"

So why is the out office hours triggered by the emergency dial code different from the scheduled out of office hours.

With this feature my phones go to DND disturb automatically when it is out-of-office time and go to available when it is in-office time. I don't see a reason why this would not apply if out-of-office is triggered manually with the dial code.

As mentioned the emergency codes only affect the systems inbound rules. This is how the system was designed to work. If you wish for this behaviour to change you can post your idea on https://www.3cx.com/community/forums/3cx-ideas/ . All posts are reviewed by their corresponding Departments and, if feasible and voted for by other users as well, may be implemented in an upcoming service pack or update.

I tend to disagree, for example the PBX setting "Automatically disable Outbound calls on all Ports outside Office hours" is also affected by the *642 dial code.

I can't really think of any ofter settings that depend on in/outside office hours anyway except for the inbound rules, but if you can please let me know.
