If the power goes out at our office, can we set 3CX and/or the Patton gateway to forward calls to an external number? Or, is that a Telco thing? I'm not sure where to start on this.

Thanks

If the gateway were even capable of this, it would still have to be powered to work. What you are looking for would be possible if you were using a VoIP provider that offered the service. They would know that there was an issue when registration failed and/or when there was no reply to an invite for a call set-up. A PSTN provider (if you used a gateway) would have no indication that your PBX was down other than unanswered calls, which are not monitored and could only have the option of going to voicemail without manually invoking call-forwarding.

If power outages are a regular occurrence in your area, I would encourage the use of a UPS, as a start.

We do have UPS units. What they do now is if the power goes out, they would call the Telco and have them forward the calls to another office. It looks like they'll have to keep doing this.

If we have two 3CX systems at different locations connected via bridge, is there a way for 3CX to forward the calls to system B if it detected system A was down?

If the incoming trunk calls came into PBX A, and were normally being routed to extensions on PBX B over a bridge, then perhaps. if trunk calls go directly into their corresponding PBXs, then no. The originator (provider) of the calls would have to instigate the forwarding.

Some VoIP providers will do this automatically. If registration (from the PBX) fails to happen when it should, all calls forward to a new number, that of the other PBX.

Specifically, as your trunk provider to add/config a "failover" config on the trunk.
Ours routes calls to a Google Voice number with a generic greeting.
