Running 3CX version 16.0.641
65x Yealink T41S phones.

When a user forwards calls to their mobile, the number (caller ID) appearing on their mobile is the HQ trunk number and not the originating caller-id.

I contacted the SIP provider about this (Colt) and they provided the below guidance.

If a call is forwarded by the customer, the redirecting number should be populated in the Diversion Header (RFC5806). If present, this header is used for screening and allows the original calling party number (Colt or Other CLI) to be sent to the far end
The Redirecting Number can be sent in international (+CC NSN or 00CC NSN), national (NSN with or without national dialling prefix) format.

My question then is how do I do this in 3CX? I already tried setting "Use Call Deflection (302)" in the forwarding rule when away. This did not work, this resulted in the call initiator getting a "cannot connect your call, number unknown type message".

I believe it could be something to do with "Outbound Parameters" under the SIP Trunk settings but I have no idea where to start.

Could anyone offer any advice?

Thanks,

Simon

check in outbound trunk settings if you have something like that

what do you have in inbound parameters?

Hi Simon,

Is appears your provider may not support 302 deflection, so when you send the call to your mobile, the PBX calls the mobile from its own trunk in order to connect the call.

The trunk needs to send it's own ID, and your provider may not allow you to send the Originator ID since that does not belong to you.

With my provider (VoIPMS), I have Remote Party ID Calling Party : Display Name and Host Part, set to "Originator Caller ID"

Every Provider is different however, so what work for one, may not work with another, and, changes made in these option will affect all outbound calls, perhaps in an unexpected way. Take caution when making any changes.

And, as mentioned, it will all depend on whether or not your provider allows this.
