I have an issue where caller ID is working as expected and displaying the number listed in the caller ID on the extension. However, the client has an Australian free call 1800 number. This number is provided as a redirection service and is not a part of the actual sip trunk itself. Its function is to receive the call divert it through to the sip trunk and the call will be free for the person who initiated it.

The problem that I am having is that if I set the 1800 number as the caller ID on an extension it just shows as a private number or No caller ID.

Is there a way that I can get these extensions to present the 1800 number when making an outbound call?
I have even tried to set up an additional trunk with the 1800 number and then set the extensions that I want as a group to use that trunk but it still shows no caller Id

Just so I have it clear, the issue is that you are unable to make the outbound caller ID, from an extension, that of a toll free number issued by another provider. If that is the case, then it may be that your outbound provider is preventing the number being used, since they probably did not issue the number to you. Some providers will restrict outbound caller ID to numbers registered to you. You might consider speaking with them.

Just want to add that, if you're are using a 3CX Supported provider, you could check here if they support "CLIP no screening" which is essentially what you need. Just locate the provider from the list and check the following value:
